Vidal Martinez was born and raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico and is a 1993 graduate of West Las Vegas High School. Martinez holds a BA in Political Science and MA in Public Affairs from New Mexico Highlands University. He also holds a Doctorate Degree in Educational Administration from New Mexico State University and an Executive Certificate in Leadership and Management from the University of Notre Dame.
Prior to joining San Miguel County in March of 2017, Martinez served as Vice President of Instruction and Student Services at Luna Community College where he was the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) responsible for the leadership of all academic divisions, strategic planning for academic programs, and accreditation with The Higher Learning Commission. Martinez also served as a faculty member, ten years of experience leading volunteer firefighters, and recently published his first book.
|As County Manager, Martinez brings extensive experience in administrative leadership, human resources, staff management, strategic planning, community relations, finance & budgeting, and legislative relations. Martinez is currently enrolled in an Executive Leadership Institute program in Santa Fe, New Mexico and the New Mexico Certified Public Managers program.
